Angelina Jao leads the vision, direction, and strategy for van der Becq and the firm's clients. She brings 30 years of hands-on entrepreneurial and public-private experience in the global tech sector, from telecom, dotcom, outsourcing/ offshoring, through incubators/ accelerators, to the Gen Z social media world.
Angelina was the Lead Designer and Managing Director in the creation of the first and largest Tech Incubator (23,000 s/f) in the Greater New York Region. Venture Capital funding raised in the $21 million dollar range. There, she created and led The International Council, a B2B software development initiative in collaboration with dozens of international economic development agencies.
Angelina served as CDO of the New York Software Industry Association for nearly a decade and a half, where her leadership was instrumental in grant-writing, fundraising in 7-figure ranges. She was also the founder of a NYC-headquartered Public Relations firm specializing in experiential marketing and international B2B Trade Missions. Over the decades, Angelina has enjoyed serving as a volunteer judge for a range of STEaM competitions produced by global foundations, including the FIRST Foundation's LEGO Robotics League, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and serving as an active Board of Directors member or Chairperson, for a variety of established NPOs/ NGOs.
Angelina is the Founder and ex officio of the Harvard Alumni Entrepreneurs – Greater DC. Angelina is a life-long avid martial arts fan, a former bodybuilder and outrigger canoer, and has competed in Golden Gloves. She maintains homes in Greater Washington DC and Taipei.
Angelina holds a BA in International Relations and English (Univ. of Wisconsin); MS in Global Marketing (Univ. of Maryland); MA in Renewable Energy/ Sustainability/ Human Rights (Harvard Univ.). Angelina's Certiﬁcations include: Sustainability Reporting (Global Reporting Initiative); Yellow Belt (Coding Dojo). She enjoys academic forays into biotech (MIT); IT management (Columbia Univ., New York Univ.).
