Erika Sun, PhD leads van der Becq's pedagogical and architectural design consulting services. She brings 20 years of experience in public interest law, K-12 education, and architectural and interior design, as well as retail business ownership.
As a practicing attorney in Brazil, Erika worked on corporate and civil cases. While at the Brazilian Ministry of Justice, she worked on architectural projects ranging across restoration, renovation, and construction of large-scale federal facilities and structures aimed at Restorative Justice and Sustainability. Erika maintains homes in Brasilia and Greater Washington, DC. She is a former competitive triathlete and practices ballet.
Erika holds a Professional Architect License in Washington DC, and a Specialist in Public Law (Faculdade Fortium). Her degrees include: Architecture and Urbanism (University of Brasilia), Law (University Centre of the Federal District), Master's in Architecture (University of Brasilia), PhD in Architecture (University of Brasilia).
She is ﬂuent in Portugese, English, Spanish, and conversant in Mandarin.
